The Halloween Post

One of these years we'll change up the costumes, but some friends had a party and we were supposed to be Alien Villains and were extras in a movie they were making. This is just their front room that he made look like this. It was cool.
Lincoln wanted to be something scary this year. Russ was adorable! We walked a ton and he didn't want to go in the stroller but really kept up climbing steps and saying thankyou after getting his candy. Kaylee went with a friend so I got her pic separate.

I'm sure most moms can relate to seeing this bowl of lucky charms with all the marshmallows gone.Dallin wanted to make an office so this is his computer and phone. He said "no yelling while I'm on the phone". I guess he's heard that before.
A friend had a B-day party with a bunch of bugs and snakes the kids could hold. Kaylee was brave to hold them. Yuck.

Lincoln now mows the whole lawn for us. He does a great job!

Friday night we had a special Whiting Family party. We had a treasure hunt, ate pizza in the guest bedroom (anything different makes it exciting) and did a family mad libs that made everyone laugh. We tried a few minute to win it games and hope to do some more soon. Lincoln spear-headed making this full room fort. He slept in it last night. There was a big thunder storm so the girls were afraid to.

On Father's Day Todd got out a bunch of his old trophies from when he was younger. The kids loved looking at them and each wanted one for their rooms. Todd thought of getting them a big trophy for memorizing all 13 Articles of Faith. Lincoln has done it. He's a good kid and we love him.

We went on a Ward campout this last weekend. We slept in our tent. The kids did well except for Russ who kept waking up and Todd had to keep blowing his nose. Something is off with the system in Todd's truck so when we're driving his horn will randomly honk. It's a light honk 3-4 times. It seemed to happen everytime we were driving by somebody. It was funny. It reminded us of the Brian Regan skit about the horn honking.

The cool Kearns came to visit. We enjoyed it very much. The kids get along really well, and so do us adults.

Our trip to Yakima & kitties

About a month ago we noticed our kitty was pregnant. Then last night she had 4 little babies. It's been so fun for the kids to see them. All babies are so cute!

I drove with my sister Wendy to Yakima for the kids' track break. The kids traveled well and it was fun to have her to talk with. Todd surprised us by showing up for the weekend because he had some business stuff to do not too far away! We enjoyed the beautiful weather. The last 2 days my mom, dad and brother all got majorly sick- but none of us did.

We went to the tulip festival at Thanksgiving Point today. By the end we were all dying of heat and Anna kept crying and saying she couldn't walk.

I decided to take a picture of the kids each month. (Except I haven't been doing Russell, darnit) So here is April: Kaylee- enjoying jump roping at school, gymnastics, playing with her friends, and keeping her promise to not get any more Webkinz until August. (It's been very difficult) Lincoln- started doing baseball and has practice atleast twice a week, but daddy takes care of most of that. Reads the Book of Mormon every night. Seriously.

Anna- Still loves changing clothes all the time. Likes playing Sorry and eating (like mommy) the eating part that is--I don't like changing clothes, I like staying in my pj's.

Dallin- I know, where's his real smile? Oh well. But he has memorized perfectly the first 6 Articles of Faith. It's amazing to listen to him. We love hearing him say "awesome" in his excited voice and he's still obsessed with trucks, trailors and tractors. Cute baby Russell is happy and active and growing up.

Wow, I was uploading this picture and then when I came back and saw it I thought it was of Dallin. This is Russ and I thought it was cute how he kneels down to look through the diamond to see out.

He also loves holding balls and climbing up on the table. We can't keep him off of it!!

I know, how can he already be 1 year old. We sure enjoy him. He's a happy, cute boy. He explores and plays around by himself yet snuggles so well. I like this look on his face.

We had an awesome vacation to CA and Vegas this weekend. We stopped by for lunch by the St. George temple on the way home. We loved playing games with the Clements and seeing friends.

Day 5 Friday we went to lunch at Cafe Rio with my sister Wendy. It was very yummy and fun!

Day 6 Valentines Day! We went to the Children's Discovery Museum. Russell liked playing in the lockers. It was great to see the kids play all creatively. We met Todd for lunch.

That morning we had a treasure hunt.

4 days ago our upstairs heater stopped working. It hasn't been too bad but this morning we woke up to the thermostat reading 47 in our room so we had a guy come fix it. I'm excited about the money we saved without the heater pumping!
We didn't do anything extra special today, but Anna and Dallin dressed up in these stylish outfits and ran around the house (about 54 upstairs now). Kaylee made a cool Webkinz Club in the bathroom and Lincoln got some piano practicing in and computer games.

We are on a year round schedule for school so the kids have 3 weeks off now. I like it...so far.

Day 1: went to Airborne trampoline place, played Just Dance on the Wii, watched a movie at night.

Day 2: Inspired by the movie Ramona and Beezus (and my sister telling me she had just watched the movie) we rolled out my 90% off Christmas wrapping and started coloring a city. The kids were really excited about it. Russell kept eating crayons though.

On Thursday we decided to take the family on a little trip to BYU campus. Here we are at Alta apartments where we met. And then for Christmas Eve the kids were excited to set out the carrots for the reindeer and cookies and milk for Santa. Kaylee put this ice pack on the milk to keep it cold.

Christmas was wonderful. The kids were all happy with their gifts. We enjoyed having time to spend together.

That's a sticker on Russell's face that the girls put on him. He likes to stand but hasn't taken more than 1 step.

It already came and went. Most of Todd's family traveled here from Texas and Denver for Thanksgiving. I really enjoyed this last week having other people here to talk with during the day, play with Russell and cousins for the kids to play with. I didn't take enough pictures but did get the three tables.

It is cold here today in Utah. All of you in Vegas should enjoy the warm weather. But thinking positively we have hot chocolate everyday and warm covers and hot showers feel extra good. It seems like just yesterday we were in Yakima enjoying the beautiful Fall. I love that Lincoln has been into reading Magic Treehouse books. He'll stay up every night reading.

He really wanted this 1 Wii game. For his party we had some friends over and did an obstacle course in the back yard.

I made a spider pinata. The face kindof makes it look like an alien.

Russell can now crawl up all of the stairs and is pulling up on everything! After he wakes up from a nap we find him standing in his crib. He just turned 7 months and is quite the mover.

My family came to take my sister Amy to Ricks. I didn't take many pictures though. Being here in Utah we've got the neighborhood friends thing going on. We'll see kids riding their bikes over jumps in our front yard. It's kindof wierd, but our own kids are having fun.

Russell is a full on crawler going all over the house. The youngest of any of my other kiddos. Today I found him hanging out on the stairs.

The kids wanted to sell peaches on the corner of of street. At first I didn't want them to, but then realized it wouldn't really hurt anything and said they could do whatever they wanted. It was fun to see them work together. They stayed out for 1 1/2 hours shouting "fresh peaches, only 50 cents" and finally our neighbor bought one. They were so excited to have a quarter each. Now when I go by a kid's lemonade stand I will buy some.

We love the weekends and of course they always go by to quickly. I like having things planned out and start the morning with the list of things to do. If we atleast do one of them then that's good. Today we weeded the garden as a family- it was awesome. Anna cried a bunch about how hard it was but Kaylee got all into it and was so proud of her row looking so good. I also made some peach jam with peaches from this tree in our backyard. We'll see if we make it out on our bike ride.

Now that we're in Utah, Pioneer Day is a State holiday so Friday we went to Star Valley, WY and visited where Todd and I worked for a summer 10 years ago. We went camping and it was beautiful.

Vacation all done

This was at a park by our house. It ended with Anna falling off.

We went to Branson, Missouri. It was awesome. All of my 6 other brothers and sisters came and my parents. There were alot of fun shows and activities. We made lots of good memories. Then we traveled to Mena, Arkansas. It was so lush and green. My uncle fed us lots of good fried Southern cooking. The kids loved catching fish.

Stuff

So far things with the dog are going well. He's doing fine outside and the kids take good care of him.
Todd went on a fishing trip with his cousins, but the lakes were frozen. He said it was still lots of fun.
I'm kinda bummed the Fall TV shows are over. I'll miss watching Lost but am excited Chuck is returning. Todd and I like Psych-- we love laughing so hard. The kids know on Wednesdays we watch The Middle. It's very funny and clean. But now we've started Family Wii night and enjoy that as well as individual date nights with the kids.
Kaylee got her hair cut short. It's cute on her.
We got a trampoline and Lincoln loves doing mega-flips on it.
Anna is inquisitive. She heard something about a place that had a tornado and so when we go somewhere new she asks if there could be a tornado there.
Dallin's still a sweetie and obsessed with trucks-trailors-tractors.
Russ loves sucking on his fingers and is adorable!!!

I am still in denial

My kids got a puppy, not me but my kids. I love my kids and they really wanted a dog. He is cute though and it was really cute seeing the kids run around and play with him. His name is Sam. Hopefully we'll be able to keep him outside- we're still figuring out the details.

He hasn't attacked the baby or anything, so that's good!

I still ask Todd the same question I have asked him with all of my babies. "Did I love the other babies this much?"

Lately Dallin falls asleep on the floor. So did Russell, and Anna was on the couch asleep in the other room! Sweet We got Papa John's Pizza and ate at the park. That piece needed to be cut atleast 2 more times, but we let him eat it.

Since Dallster loves trucks, trailors and tractors we got him this as his present. We started weeding for a garden today. We are excited. We are still working on getting the chickens.

Last night at dinner, out of the blue, Kaylee said she can't wait until she's 16 so she can get a car and a cell phone. "Oh Really" we said. She said "everyone in my class has a cell phone, well I mean atleast 3 people do". Todd told her we didn't have a cell phone until we were married and had kids. He also used the "if everyone jumped off a cliff would you do it too" line when Lincoln did something we told them both not to do and Kaylee said "well Lincoln did it".
I guess we are parents now.

The kids think baby Russell is a live doll to play with. Anna has especially been an amazing little mommy. She always wants to hold him and will keep doing it even when he cries and she usually can settle him down while I'm doing other things. It's nice.

Early Tuesday morning 3 am I woke up with some regular contractions and after a bit thought we'd better play it safe and head to the hospital. We were checked in at 4:30 and by 7:30 he was born. It was wonderful! We named him Russell Ames Whiting. He was 7 lbs 8 ozs and 20 1/2 inches long. He looks alot like the other Whiting babies.
We're excited and feel very blessed to have him here with us.

The other kids are always wanting to hold him.

Today, Saturday Feb 20th is my due date. Nothing is happening.
Anna really likes to go get the mail, and check out that outfit! It's really cold outside but she dresses like a Vegas girl.

I've got a spot set aside for the new baby's picture.

One of my favorite things is the laundry room. It's not decorated all cute or anything but it's up by the bedrooms and has a counter where I can put the kids' clothes.

Well. . . we enjoyed 5 wonderful months in Yakima, but in order to have a job, we have moved to Utah. Todd is working with the same group he did in Vegas, but now they have a new venture for him in SLC. We found a house to rent in Bluffdale (west of the Ikea or prison-- part way between Provo and Salt Lake). It's out where there's some space around us, which Todd (growing up in Texas) has been wanting for awhile. The people here are very down to earth and friendly which we enjoy very much. The kids have been happy in their new school- which is good. It's hard starting over again- I still miss friends in Las Vegas and then got to also love many wonderful people in Yakima.
We moved a week and a half ago. My mom, dad, Lisa and Alan were lifesavers at helping us with all the "little stuff" at the end, as well as of course all the big stuff. Dallin was going strong all day and then finally just stopped and napped in the middle of the floor.
That old Yakima house was awesome.

There was a beach party at the elementary school so we dressed up a bit for it.

2 1/2 weeks til the baby is due. I love feeling it move around in my belly.

New Year's Eve there was alot of snow. I am so glad that Todd took the kids outside to play in it. They loved it.

On Christmas Anna got some green nail polish from Santa. You'd think I'd learn my lesson about that (which can be said about alot of things). I saw Dallin go into the bathroom to wash his hands after being in his room. There was no reason why he'd be doing that and then I remembered I had just been painting Anna's nails. Luckily there wasn't any on the carpet--it took lots of scrubbing though to get off his hands.

Halloween was extra special this year. Kaylee was baptised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. She looked beautiful and we love her so much. Then that evening we went Trick-or Treating. This picture is funny because I caught both the girls coughing. Kaylee wanted to pose with this flower. She is loving having her ears pierced but really wants to wear Halloween earrings but is supposed to wait 6 weeks before switching them out. She is not a patient girl!

Kaylee turned 8! She has been looking forward so much to her birthday. On Oct 1st we got her ears pierced. She loves them and looks adorable.

Todd got Lincoln this bow and arrow for his Birthday. He loves being able to hit the target.

Open house was a little different this year. In Vegas we'd see half the ward at school. Here we didn't know anyone. The kids seem OK though.

Anna wanted her hair shorter. It's hard to let her long locks go, but they will grow back and she really likes it. Now Kaylee wants hers alot shorter.

I am so thankful to have Kaylee as my oldest daughter. She is such a good helper and so tender-hearted. She does fun things with the younger kids. Here she dressed up Dallin. I love her.

Monday night we went over to Franklin Park. It's not like the Las Vegas parks. It is just lots and lots of grass and trees. The kids really enjoyed trying to catch leaves and running around.

I guess I should upload these pictures in the correct order first because I can't move them around very well. Here is the kitchen (I took this before we moved in- ahh it is so nice and clean)
We like the white fence out in front. On the right side is a driveway you drive on to the back of the house where a separate garage is. There's room for the kids to ride bikes, so that's fun.

The girls' room. The whole house has crown moulding and fancy chandeliers which we love.

I should be getting my internet hooked up today at home so I can post some great pictures we've taken. I really like the house. The kids like school and riding the bus which is great because Dallin's always taking a nap when they come home. I've been cold but Todd's been loving it! We went to a rodeo at the Fair and that was fun.

So I hadn't posted anything for awhile, but then was thinking about how much I love to hear updates from you all, especially when you've moved or something like that- so here it is. We've moved to Yakima, WA. It'll take awhile for it to really seem real because it's still like we're just visiting. But we enjoy being by family and already we got to go pick a bunch of free rasberries and the kids and Todd and I loved it. The weather is nice, and the parks have lots of huge trees. But of course we miss Las Vegas. It's hard for us to make a change and are glad that we had so many extremely wonderful times. We know that there will be many good things here in WA as well.

As for the whole 7 Whitings thing there aren't really 7 of us yet but 1 is a little something in my tummy. He or she is due Feb 20th. I'm finally starting to feel better, but still don't mind passing on chocolate- which is a complete opposite of my usual self.

So please keep me updated on you all so I don't feel as far away.

I have a hard time spending money. I know it's kindof wierd, but true. Todd went on a little trip and brought the kids back some stuff. I'm glad he can do that- they really enjoyed it!Dallin got a little airplane that he hasn't let go of all day. I love that Dallin plays with things. He'll also sit and put choo-choo train tracks together. What a yummy treat this is. A strawberry sucker for us all to share- with a real scorpion inside. (What an EXCITING husband to bring home something cool like that)

And this is just Anna in her latest outfit that she's wears every single day. Those pants are infant size 3 months, that are now her skin tight shorts.

Our summer vacation

It's hard to believe our trip is already over. Here are a few highlights.

First we traveled to Corvalis, OR to visit my friend Cherie and her family. We each now have 4 kids and bet they'd be best buds if we lived near eachother.
Then we went to Lincoln City.

It was very cold. Quite a change from Las Vegas. I think everyone looks really nice in this picture.

Anna loved that her dress matched Aunt Nichole's.Back in Yakima the kids loved the playroom. We played games, hung out and went to the batting cages, and miniature golf. Todd and I both felt sick (which was kind of lame) but it was still good and we love visiting family.

So far this summer has been so much fun. We always have something fun going on. Thursday I took the kids to the dentist, then the dollar store and then swimming at our neighborhood pool. Kaylee said it was the best day ever! Wow. Then Friday we went to the Children's Discovery Museum. Very fun. We love the dark room where you pose against the phosphorous background and then a light flashes and it leaves your shadow.

Saturday Kaylee had her dance recital. She was very cute and did well.

Then we went to the library together to pick out some movies and made one of my favorites: homemade pizzas.

This weekend we went to Mt. Charleston. We loved being in the cool air. The kids did great sleeping in the tent. Lincoln and Kaylee loved gathering sticks to keep the campfire burning and Lincoln was mad in this picture because he didn't want to go and we couldn't get him to smile.

The foil dinners and peach cobbler turned out amazing.

Chinese Day

Since I found a recipe for homemade fortune cookies it inspired our Chinese themed day. I wanted to do a lot more teaching about the country than I did- but we did make Chinese lanterns (on the table) and Sweet and Sour Chicken. This is just funny of Dallin.

Last Friday night we had a little celebration for the kids because school was out. It's always fun to decorate and party it up. I got a book at the library of fun summer activities and am determined and excited to do them! Today was face painting. For each color I wanted I mixed 1 tps cornstarch, 1/2 tsp cold cream, 1/2 tsp water and a drop of food coloring. I used a little muffin tin. The kids loved painting my face and it wipes right off.

Memorial Day weekend

It was a fun weekend. The best was having Todd home on Monday. We made smores by our outside campfire (it was really hot though). I got this little air hocky table at Children's Orchard (a used kids stuff place) and was going to wait 4 months until Lincoln's birthday, but. . . we got it out early. Growing up I remember this game we had that was green and you'd hit a ball back and forth trying to score. (Remember that Lisa and Wendy) With so many Webkinz games my kids like I was hoping something "real" would be fun. They love it. Lincoln is working on his not crying if I score skills.

Here the boys are listening to Todd share a Scripture story. This was after 20 minutes of running around crazy and repeatedly asking them to sit still and listen- but it's sure cute.

Vegas Summer

Todd brought home a bunch of Otter pops (Smith's brand so not officially otter pops but that's what we call them) I think they are very messy but the kids like them.

The best week ever

Thought I'd go ahead and share a little bit about our Cruise. First of all the most thanks goes to my sister Amy for taking care of our kids all week. And thanks to friends who helped out having the kids over to play.

I'm sooo grateful to have my wonderful husband Todd to spend the vacation with- he's the best.

Everything about our week was perfect and I wouldn't have changed a thing. We went on a Royal Caribbean Freedom of the Seas ship- the largest ship there is. The shows were amazing and the fancy dining every evening was so much fun! We went with my sister Lisa and her husband Alan. I'm so glad that we could go together, they are wonderful. We enjoyed staying up late playing Ticket to Ride, talking, and getting 2 am pizza and cookies (and fruit, brownies. sugar-free lime mousse, etc.)Our first port was in Labadee, Haiti. Todd went on the world's largest zip line and we all relaxed in hammocks by the beach and bargained with the Haitians for some maracas and bracelets.

2nd stop Jamaica. We got a Taxi and were shown all around and climbed up Dunn's River Falls. We loved the people's accents and would like to take on a bit more of their "irie" don't worry about a thing attitude.Our 3rd port was the beautiful Grand Cayman. Todd, Lisa and Alan went snorkling while I slept in and then met Todd to walk around and go to the turtle farm. When we got back on the boat we participated in the Amazing Race running from top to bottom and one end of the boat to the other answering questions and doing physical challenges. It was very fun! That night was another formal night.The boat had an ice skating rink.And a rock climing wall.And Todd whooped it up on the flowrider!
Also miniature golf, basketball, ping pong and shuffle board. We really loved it and feel thankful to have been able to have enjoyed such a wonderful vacation. Now things are back to normal- the kids still fight and I've got laundry and dishes to do. But I'm trying to appreciate them more and make the most out of every minute! (Man, was it fun)

Wedding Reception

We went to Todd's Nephew Leighton's Wedding Reception in Utah. It was beautiful and fun for Todd and I to have those romantic feelings!

The kids loved riding around in bumper boats on the lake. They also love dipping strawberries in the chocolate fountain.

Friday we enjoyed our usually "Party night" with the kids and watched the movie bedtime stories and laughed alot. ( I love Todd's laugh ) Then Saturday night Todd and I went to the Philharmonic. We honestly were the youngest ones there, but we enjoyed the beautiful music.

I've never taught my kids to use the cereal boxes like that but totally remember doing it as a kid-- same with making sofa cusion forts and promising to put all the blankets away after I'm done.
